'Open Data and APIs' at DA's Adelaide FinTech meetup
On Monday the 26th, we were fortunate enough to host the September 2016 Adelaide FinTech meetup, where some of the biggest names in Australian Fintech presented.
As guests arrived, many coming from the coinciding COBA Conference at the Adelaide Convention Centre, they were ushered into the building’s theatrette for a quick drink and a chance to mix with fellow ‘FinTech’ers’.
The evening commenced with a presentation on open data and APIs from our Enterprise Architect, Greg Kennedy. Greg explained the mutual banking appetite for a diverse range of service providers and highlighted the opportunities arising from FinTech providers using APIs, including some real-life examples. This was followed by presentations from our interstate visitors, Danielle Szetho, CEO of FinTech Australia and Simon Cant, Managing Director of Reinventure, who offered a sneak peak of the National Fintech Census results and offered some perspective on national and global trends.
After an engaging panel and Q&A session headed by Danielle, Simon, FinTech’s organiser; Luke Howes, and our General Manager – Technology; Alexei Fey, guests moved across the hall for a chance to wrap up the evening over drinks and nibbles. The night attracted a great turnout and FinTech co-organiser, Damien Mair, commented on the ‘great diversity of topics’ that were discussed over the course of the event.
We really enjoyed hosting the FinTech meetup and offer a big thank you to everyone for coming along.
